In January we put on a school play which was called “The West Side Story”. It was about two gangs: The “Jets” and the “Sharks”. The two of them always fight. One of the boys of the “Jets” falls in love with one girl of the “Sharks”. However, they will never be together because in the end the boy dies.
In my opinion West Side Story was the best theater that has ever been put on, because the children that participated wanted to try this theatrical play and they did a very good job. Many teachers also helped the children with the songs, with clothes and they gave them confidence.
Before the final day the children had lots of practice. We had lots of fun those days with the theatrical roles and with all the scenes. We all laughed when the headmaster gave us some examples on how we can play our roles. We spent many hours there as our rehearsals weren’t just a couple of hours a week. We also had a lot of work to do at home. We had to learn many things and learn them by heart like songs and others.
On the final day we were all focused on our roles and we didn’t make any mistakes.
