A visit from Salzburg

Reinhard Ehgartner

Last week, a foreigner came to our school. We learned that he was Reinhard Ehgartner a 50 year old man from Salzburg, Austria.
He has been married for 23 years and he
has two children. One boy, who is 18 years old and one girl, who is 14 years old. He likes listening to classical music and sometimes plays the piano. His work is to educate librarians, and his place of work is at his home town, in a small company. He also supports Salzburg and Chelsea teams, and has played football for a long time. He speaks 6 languages such as German, which is his basic language, English, French some phrases of Japanese. Some Latin and Ancient Greek, too. He has come to Greece many times. When he was young, he cycled all the way from Thessaloniki to Athens. It took him about 6 days to reach his destination.
In his free time, he goes skiing or plays games with his family, but his favorite hobby is reading previews of new and old books and making websites.
He came to our school because he joined a project named “Creative Steps to Social Activation”, which activates people from foreign countries to discover different ways of culture.
If you go sightseeing in Austria, he recommends that you should go to Vienna or to Salzburg (because it is the hometown of Mozart). He also said that in Austria, there is a lot of snow, so 90% of the Austrians choose skiing. Economic crisis doesn’t exist in his country, because it has a lot of tourism in the summer and in the winter. This year’s economics are much better than last year. We also learned that 50% of the Austrians are Roman Catholic, so he is in the 50% of them.
I enjoyed this experience very much because we learned so many things about his country and his habits. I wish we could learn more but we hadn’t got enough time. To sum up, this experience was great! I hope that we will do it again next year.
